Thursday 24 March 2016

After almost two weeks of calm and pleasant conditions today the weather Gods changed their mind drastically. With almost continuous rain from dawn to late afternoon it became a day to catch up on the painting and cleaning of the observatory ready for the start of the season. Small numbers were still recorded with two Manx Shearwaters and three Puffins noted at sea. Inland two Sparrowhawks, two Buzzards, one Curlew, three Redshanks, 24 Turnstones, 197 Meadow Pipits, one Song Thrush, one Chiffchaff, 14 Goldcrests, and 26 Starlings were picked out.
