Today the weather deteriorated, it was a day of strong winds and some much needed rain, however I think we were all missing the sun!!

Sam headed out to do a census walk before cracking on with his Burrow Census later on. The highlight was probably a flock of 20 Starlings, they haven't been around recently, so they're new birds which have moved in in the last day or so. A Redshank on the Narrows was a sign of some return wader passage, it always happens sooner than you expect! There were also around 20 juvenile Rock Pipits on the Narrows, these have clearly started to group together from the surrounding areas now.

Later, Sam continued with Burrows and got the walls behind the Obs done, he's coming very close to being finished now, it'll be interesting to see just how many Burrows there actually are now in this area!

The afternoon was spent at the Obs with all of the people on the island. It was Ela's 7th Birthday, so an obligatory 'potato tasting' session was had, followed by some of Meriel's delicious lasagne! Ela got a camera for her birthday and has already started taking pictures of some of the birds around the island - we'll make a birder of her yet, and she is definitely keen!

Ela blowing out her seven candles, not many people can say they've celebrated their seventh birthday here!
Some of the fine cakes decorated by Steve and Emma and baked by Connor... yummy!
