The weather was windier today, with a rather brisk south-westerly gusting at 42mph throughout the day.  However, as it was southerly, it wasn't too cold, plus the sun was out so it was a decent day for Sam to do a few burrows.

The census is now in the final stretches, so the pace hasn't relaxed a bit. There a re just a few more walls left to do (although they do contain several hundred burrows!) and one more section on the mountain, which will add up to a couple more days work at most.

But before Sam headed off to do burrows the Obs building was cleaned in preparation for Ela's 7th birthday party which is taking place tomorrow! The dining room is now nice and clear for musical statues and whatever other games are planned..!

Because of the strong wind, birding wasn't as easy, but a walk around the perimeter of the island produced the usual breeding species, including Wheatears, Rock Pipits and two of the Chough families, both on the West Coast and South End. In the last few days, Linnets have been around in reasonably large flocks of 50 or so, today a flock of 52 was amongst the thrift at the South End.

George meanwhile, was carrying on with report editing/writing for the 2019 report which is due to be completed fairly soon, it's quite a time-consuming job, making sure no mistakes or typos are left in...

So it was another quiet day bird-wise, where we were simply enjoying our breeding birds, but that's just fine by us, and to be expected during the summer months.
