Last night's Storm Petrel session was a roaring success - 35 birds were trapped, of which 29 were new, five were re-traps from Bardsey, and one had been ringed elsewhere. These 29 new take us to 76 ringed so far this year, a very respectable total, indeed.

Today's weather was good again, sunny, but slightly more chilly as the day got on.

Mark headed down to the Withies to do some ringing in the morning, it was quiet, but he did catch the first juvenile Sedge Warbler and Whitethroat of the year, and an adult Song Thrush was also unexpected - so all worth it!

After a slightly later start than usual due to last night's Stormie session... George spent the remainder of the morning writing up some Manxie data which have been collected recently into the book, to work out which burrows are still left to be checked.

Mark and Connor continued the ground preparation for the new Solar Panels which should hopefully be in before too long...

The afternoon was then spent getting the Gift Shop ready for the imminent arrival of day visitors, and before long, long-stayers also! It is all very exciting, yet out feels strange to be doing this at this point in the year, rather than back in March as it usually would be.

As it began to get dark, clouds cover increased and before long Manxies started to pour in, so Josie and George decided to go out and ring some, we shall check in with how they got on tomorrow...

Other sightings today included: one Grey Heron, one Buzzard, one Red Kite, one Peregrine, two Dunlins, five Whimbrels, 20 Curlews, three Redshanks, one Common Sandpiper, five Swifts, two Sand Martins.
