The weather had changed entirely today, gentle north-easterlies and bright sunshine were had practically all day. For the first time in a while, it was calm enough to open the nets, unfortunately, it was very quiet at Nant and the ringing session was packed in early with just a Wren and a retrap Blackcap being caught. At Cristin it wasn't much better, four birds were caught, one Tree Pipit, one Willow Warbler, one Blackcap and one Blackbird. Down in the withies it was considerably more productive with five Willow Warblers five Wrens, two Blackcap, three Robins, one Sedge Warbler, two Goldfinches one Dunnock and one Whitethroat.

The Citrine Wagtail spent yet another day on the island. Today, probably due to the calm, sunny weather, it spent more time feeding on Solfach on the huge amounts of small invertebrates found in the seaweed. It was easily the best day so far to spend time watching this bird and some nice photos were taken as a result.

There was some gull passage today, throughout the day, 235 Herring Gulls and 84 Lesser Black-backed Gulls cruised south over the island. Hirundines were also moving through with six Sand Martins moving past the Narrows and 90 Swallows and 31 House Martins being recorded today. 120 Meadow Pipits was also the highest count of the Autumn, perhaps taking advantage of the gap in the weather after the constant south-westerlies.
During the afternoon, the Manx Shearwater productivity burrows were checked to see how many chicks have survived. At this stage, the ones that are left have a very good chance of fledging!
Two Storm Petrels were trapped and ringed after dark - possibly the last of the season?
