Today the wind picked up massively and rain moved in along with it. The wind was blowing at around 50mph all day, and gusting at 70mph in the worst of the storm.

Huge waves crashed all down the coast, the worst of which were coming into the hide at the North End and some were reaching at least ten metres off the Southern tip, too. Surprisingly, despite the strong gales, seabirds were in very short supply, with less than 200 Manx Shearwaters being seen during the day...

A walk to the Narrows in a less rainy period, did however produce one Ringed Plover, six Sanderlings, two Purple Sandpipers, four Whimbrels, 26 Curlews, 11 Redshank, one Common Sandpiper and two White Wagtails.

After dark, a walk to the Narrows to try and catch some waders resulted in only a single Wheatear being caught, always a nice species to see in the hand though.
