Today the weather was the chalk to yesterday's cheese. Glorious sunshine, swimming and a beautiful sunset on Solfach was replaced by drizzle, showers and quite low visibility. We welcomed new visitors this afternoon so the assistant warden team busied themselves with cleaning and preparing the Observatory. We welcomed Megan's mum who is also staying on the island this week, luckily she was wearing her poncho for the rather wet crossing from Porth Meudwy!

Small Blood-Vein
|
A
Small Blood-Vein moth was caught in the moth trap last night a second record for the island!
Quiet on the bird front today as usual for this time of year, we are enjoying watching the
House Martins looping around the front of the obs in between shifts incubating their eggs in the Cristin north side porch and hearing all the juvenile
Stonechats click-clacking along the track. A
Bar-tailed Godwit was spotted on Solfach again today along with
Curlews and
Whimbrels. Birds today: one Grey Heron, one Dunlin, one Bar-tailed Godwit, one Whimbrel, 17 Curlews, three Redshanks, one Common Sandpiper, one Turnstone and two Lesser Redpolls.
