Saturday 21 August 2021

As is expected on a Saturday the morning is spent cleaning the Obs and saying farewell to our guests for the week. There was a steady drizzle all morning and it remained overcast in the afternoon. This week a few guest ringers are staying and the wind is forecast to be calm all week. It is expected that there will be quite a few birds ringed.

It was fairly quiet on the South End and Narrows as Stuart walked up to the Obs with the best birds being at Ty Pellaf a Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, three Whitethroats and three Sedge Warblers. A Sparrowhawk was seen flying through Nant in the afternoon.

A few spikes of Autumn Lady's Tresses have started flowering across the island with the hotspots being in the fields behind the farm.
