As on all Saturdays, the morning was spent cleaning the observatory. However, the nets were open in the garden before cleaning began, with the small catch including six Willow Warblers and four Swallows. A large flock of 387 Kittiwakes was seen at the south end in the morning, as well as many waders including a Knot and the first Ruff of the year. Raptors included a Buzzard and a Kestrel, and four Mediterranean Gulls were seen throughout the day. Two Spotted Flycatchers were seen, but migrants were thin on the ground.
The highlight of the day came in the form of a Wryneck at Nant in the afternoon. Also, the first two Red-breasted Mergansers of autumn were seen on the west coast around noon, flying around Carreg yr Honwy before flying north.
