After yesterday's fog, today was bright and clear, with sun bathing the island throughout the day. The nets were opened on the seed crop at Ty Pellaf in the morning, and more Linnets were ringed alongside a Grasshopper Warbler, a Sedge Warbler and a small number of Willow Warblers. A Common Gull was seen flying over Pen Cristin from the farm while ringing was taking place. Unfortunately, the Linnets were flushed by a Sparrowhawk midway through the morning and did not properly return to the field, significantly reducing the catch.
A Kestrel was also seen in the lowlands, however no other raptors were reported other than the resident Peregrines. The high tide roost on the Narrows was less eventful than previous days, however there were still some waders about, with five Dunlin, five Sanderling and 20 Ringed Plovers, almost all seen on the beach at Solfach.
Swallows were passing through the island today, with 72 observed alongside four Sand Martins. A Whinchat was seen below the farm; in terms of warbler passage, there were 36 Willow Warblers and six Whitethroats as well as those ringed at the farm. Three Spotted Flycatchers were seen, as well as the first Jackdaws of the autumn, with seven in the north west fields. Finally, five Risso's Dolphins were seen close along the West Coast.
The potential bird of the day was found on the narrows around noon - what was likely to be a Citrine Wagtail was heard calling three times, however the bird could not be located despite checking through the large number of White Wagtails around Solfach and Henllwyn.
