A break in the wind allowed for the nets to be opened up at the Obs for a first time in a while; this proved to be very productive with a notable arrival of birds which included 34 Goldcrests, 3 Chiffchaffs, 6 Blackcaps, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 10 Chaffinches, 4 Goldfinches and 3 Robins being ringed. Stuart opened the nets at Nant and caught an additional 20 Goldcrests, 5 Blackcaps, a Chaffinch, 7 Goldfinches and another Great Spotted woodpecker.
Steve headed out in the morning to the South End and was rewarded with finding the first Yellow-browed Warbler of the year at Solfach of all places! This was followed by a seawatch off the South End which resulted in a spectacular 8,000-10,000 Kittiwakes feeding to the South which included 2 Sabine's Gulls (Ad and Juv), a Mediterranean Gull, 200 Black-headed Gulls, 17 Common Gulls, an Arctic Skua, 32 Common Scoters and 2 Sandwich Terns.
A break in the weather also resulted in some overhead movement which included 8 Rooks, 17 Siskins, 37 Skylarks, 4 Swallows, 15 Grey Wagtails, and 10 'alba' wagtails. The Great Spotted Woodpecker was still in the Withies which meant at least 3 were present on the island today. Other highlights included a Spotted Flycatcher still at Ty Bach, a Mistle Thrush at the Obs, a Merlin at the North End and 3 Wheatears on the South End.
