A mixed day today as a range of different species arrived on the island. There were a few species that were first for the year, including a Stock Dove, a Feral Pigeon at Nant, and a Reed Bunting in the reedbeds at Ty Pellaf. A small Turdus arrival was noted with 30 Redwings and two Fieldfares (both new for the year), as well as an increase in Blackbird and Song Thrush numbers. The female Bullfinch was seen again at Nant.

The highlights of a late morning ringing session at Cristin included a female Firecrest and a Blue Tit (rarity for the island!). The first Goldfinches of the year were also ringed, thanks to the recently refilled niger seed feeder.

Other bird highlights of the day were 13 Wheatears, three Bramblings, 70 Linnets and two Rooks.

The two moth traps resulted in a slightly lower total than yesterday's session, with 34 moths of 5 species recorded.

'Margret' the Cattle Egret remained in amongst the sheep!
