Last night we were out Manx Shearwater ringing again. We ended up ringing over 200 birds in a night and only found four retraps - many of which hadn't been handled since initial ringing in the early 2000's!

Rather excitingly, on our way back to the Obs after the ringing session we flushed a Little Owl at Pen Cristin, which shows they may have been breeding here on the Island! It also took the year list to 129. Bird highlights during the day itself were a Reed Warbler singing in Crsistin Withy, a Lapwing, seven Curlews, at least four Redshanks, and a Siskin over Cristin.

The Choughs we ringed as pullus earlier this year have recently fledged and we've seen them frequently foraging on Solafach and the West Coast. Keep an eye out for those colour rings if you're on/coming to the Island!

Lepidoptera enjoyed the warm, calm weather again today with 22 Meadow Browns, a Small Tortoiseshell, two Red Admirals and a Green-veined White
