The day started off well, when a male Common Rosefinch was trapped in the Heligoland Trap at Cristin in
the early morning. The bird was duly ringed, released, and was only seen again
in Ty Pellaf garden late afternoon, where it burst into chorus for a brief
while.
Otherwise, a Black
Redstart was seen above Nant on the mountainside, and nine Spotted
Flycatchers were seen in the island’s gardens and withies. A total of seven Ringed Plovers were seen around the Narrows in the morning, along with a single Sanderling, six Dunlins, two Whimbrels and a Turnstone.
Common Rosefinch
Never seen a Common Rosefinch before today, what a cracking looking bird.
