It was a quiet day, and despite a decent attempt at finding some scarce birds, the birds of the day ended up being two Bullfinches which were calling at Nant and were later seen at Cristin. Whimbrels have dropped off in the last two days, numbers down to 11 today, compared to around 50 this time last week.
In the Cristin garden next to one of the net rides, a nest of Lackey Moth caterpillars has been present for a couple of days, here they can be seen moving in all their aposematic glory!
Other birds around include: 52 Linnets, 13 Goldfinches, two Siskins, three Chaffinches, two Ravens, 35 Willow Warblers, 12 Chiffchaffs, 11 Blackcaps, one Lesser Whitethroat and three Common Whitethroats, one of which was down at the base of a cliff at South End.
Another bird of note was a Bar-tailed Godwit which is suspected to be the same individual that has been around for three days, a halfway moulted (probable) male stopping off on passage to its arctic breeding grounds.
