More strong wind today, 28mph north-westerly which had a definite autumn chill to it. For the fourth day in a row, the Eastern Yellow Wagtail was around the cow field giving as good a view as you could hope for. As usual, there were many Goldfinches in the garden at the Obs, with a couple of Siskins amongst them. Linnets were in abundance once again too, with the majority being at the farm with an estimated flock of 140.
Seawatching produced some good birds today, more 'quality' over quantity it has to be said. One Red-throated Diver, 24 Manx Shearwater, seven Common Scoters, 85 Razorbills, one Arctic Skua, three Great Skuas, one Mediterranean Gull and a Sabine's Gull! A feeding flock of Kittiwakes was off the South End today, a rounded count of 1500 individuals was taken.
Meadow Pipit passage has slowed down, today 53 birds were counted, which is low compared to one week ago when there were comfortably 150+ per day. 12 Choughs were down on Solfach, these numbers will begin to build and hopefully, we'll get some more colour-ring combinations.
Other counts today include: one Grey Heron, one Wigeon, one Merlin, two Peregrines, one Water Rail, 42 Oystercatchers, one Dunlin, two Bar-tailed Godwit, 70 Curlews, six Redshanks, one Common Gull and 24 Stonechats.
