It was a quiet day today, the persistent westerly winds seem to have halted passage somewhat, it was calm today with just a 14moh breeze from the north-west. Finch numbers were noticeably lower, with Goldfinches dropping to 65 and Linnets to 89, mainly at the farm. The best passage migrants of the day were the 122 Skylarks that flew over the island during the course of the morning, some of which were out at sea! But even better (at least more bizarre!) was a Nightjar that flew past, low to the sea early in the morning and was picked up during a seawatch! The first record of this species here since 2006!

A Buzzard cruised over the mountain in the early afternoon, other raptors today include two Merlins and three Peregrines. One of the Merlins was hunting in the gardens around Nant, much like a Sparrowhawk!

Small waders were in very limited supply, really just the usual cast of Turnstones was present, however, a good count of 14 Redshanks was the best in a while. Bigger waders around today include the large flock of Curlew which contained 68 individuals, one Bar-tailed Godwit, one Whimbrel, 36 Oystercatchers and two Snipes were seen in the Wetlands.

A Great Crested Grebe was very briefly seen flying over the Narrows towards Pen Cristin, a surprisingly rare bird on the island and this constitutes the 23rd record! Happily, there were also 33 Choughs on Solfach, including a few colour-ringed birds.

Robin passage seemed good today, they appeared to be ticking away all over the island. 35 were counted in total, similarly,16 Stonechats today continued the decent passage for this species.

Other totals today include: three Lesser Redpolls, 14 Siskins, 22 Chaffinches, 24 Starlings, 26 Goldcrests, 11 Chiffchaffs, one Song Thrush, 34 Meadow Pipits, 400 Razorbills, one Mediterranean Gull, 16 Mallards, 16 Shags, four Manx Shearwaters and a Great Northern Diver.
