The wind turned north-easterly today and was a steady 30-35mph throughout the day. Of course, this is quite promising in October. This turn in the wound did produce some nice birds. Siskins were heard flying over the Obs and Nant first thing, and a small flock of Redpolls was heard in the Plantation with many 'fink-ing' Chaffinches, many of which were probably fresh in. A 'chupp-ing' Common Crossbill over the obs was a good bonus, too! Another Yellow-browed Warbler at the farm also added to the October feel today!

The rain was quite persistent and mixed with the strong wind made seeing birds in trees and bushes fairly difficult! However, three Lapland Buntings on the South End were a good find, and what you'd hope to see on a day like today. 13 Skylarks were also flushed from a field on the West Coast, along with a two Golden Plovers. Other waders include two Bar-tailed Godwits, 52 Curlews, one Whimbrel, 14 Redshanks, 78 Turnstones, three Snipes, one Ringed Plover and 28 Oystercatchers.
