Another sunny yet gusty day today, just too gusty to open the nets, although they were opened for one net round in the garden before the session was called off. Changeover saw us saying goodbye to Bruce who has been the guest for the week and has been getting to the south end for first light almost every day of his visit.

Warblers were once again on the quiet side with a couple of Whitethroats up at Nant and a Sedge Warbler singing in Ty Pellaf reedbed, also around were 12 each of Blackcaps and Willow Warblers and singing Chiffchaffs. The third and fourth Bar-tailed Godwits of the year were seen with a small flock of Whimbrels on the West coast in the afternoon, although they weren't brick-red like the summer male that was seen yesterday.

There was a better passage of Swallows and Sand Martins today, with 24 Sand Martins and 40 Swallows, numbers for Sand Martins seemed to pick up in the early evening as they often do for the species. A great flock of 43 Purple Sandpipers was seen on the Narrows, a good total for this often elusive species on Bardsey.
