A Grey Heron was still at the Narrows and two Swifts flew over the Wetlands. A adult Cuckoo was flushed in the Wetlands but it won't be too long before the juveniles fledge thanks to their busy Meadow Pipit parents. Wader migration is picking up with three Common Sandpipers and two Redshanks on Solfach.
The afternoon was spent around the East Side ringing the final broods of Razorbills and Guillemots. With stormy weather early in the year many of the birds closer to the sea are still on eggs. These may be second tries after the first eggs being washed away. The Peregrines have fledged two young and were making a lot of noise around the cliffs.
Two moth traps were put out and it was a busy night with 160 moths of 34 species. The highlights were July Highflyer, True Lover's Knot and Triple Spot Clay.
