It was an early start for Stuart as he opened the nets in the Withies to try and ring some of this years young birds. As well as juvenile Sedge Warblers, Wrens and Dunnocks there was also the first young Willow Warblers heading South and a juvenile Wheatear.

It was really calm day and a pod of 16 Common Dolphin with a feeding flock of 500 Manx Shearwater were seen whilst going through the moth trap. It was another productive morning with 39 species including a Marbled Green, and 41 Crescent Darts.

The temperature soared today and after a hot census the afternoon was spent swimming off the West Coast with plenty of small Sand Eels and Pollock and three inquisitive Grey Seals. The eclipse male Tufted Duck is still present being seen in Solfach first thing and then on Gareth's Pond in the afternoon. Two Swifts were the only other species of note.

Birds today: one Grey Heron, one Tufted Duck, two Dunlins, two Whimbrels, 16 Curlews, eight Redshanks, two Common Sandpipers, two Collared Doves, two Swifts, four Willow Warblers
