Saturday's on Bardsey mean one thing, changeover. Last week guest departing and new guest arriving. The nets were opened at Cristin during cleaning and resulted in a male and female Blackcap, the latter with a brood patch indicating these were the first failed breeders of the autumn. The highlight of the day was a Pink-footed Goose being found in Henllywn as Mervin was getting on the boat to leave! The bird then flew over the Narrows and landed on the West Coast but was not seen again. This became only the 10 record for the island after the bird in early April this year!

After changeover, the Manx Shearwater census resumed with another square being completed. The preliminary results seem to indicate a 40-50% in most squares!! After the census was completed for the day, the first three Shag broods of the year were ringed.

Other birds included a Buzzard, a Collared Dove, a Sand Martin, 14 House Martins, three Blackcaps, a Reed Warbler, the Lesser Whitethroat still, three Blackcaps, a Chiffchaff, two Willow Warbler, six Spotted Flycatcher and a Lesser Redpoll
