A small number of migrants were making the most of the good weather for their return passage today, resulting in eight Starlings, three Swifts, two Curlews and a Grey Heron being the highlights of the day.

We led the first Manx Shearwater chick walk of the year, where we showed guests the monitoring work that we do for the Manxie chicks, by weighing them and taking wing length measurements. It's incredible to think that these chicks will be ready to fly to the South Atlantic in a couple months time!

Later on we headed to the South End and gave the Thrift Clearwing lure a go, which resulted in at least six flying around within a minute of opening it.

Afterwards, we continued seabird monitoring work with a boat trip round the East Side, courtesy of Gareth! Many thanks for taking us round. Most of the Guillemots and Razorbills seem to have finished breeding, whilst the Kittiwake chicks have only recently hatched.
