Lighter winds and sunshine was welcomed by all, and resulted in some migration action! The highlight was a juvenile Cuckoo that tantalisingly flashed in and out of the Heligoland trap. Elsewhere, 12 Swifts moved south through the Island, whilst five Dunlins, 10 Curlews, a Redshank, and five Common Sandpipers were logged today.

In the afternoon, we continued working on our Manx Shearwater chick growth project as we measured the weight and wing length of all 22 study burrow birds.

The change in weather was good for butterflies too, with 29 Meadow Browns, a Painted Lady, a Peacock, seven Red Admirals, two Common Blues, and two Small Coppers all sighted today.
