The highlights of a cold and calm day were a Firecrest at Cristin, a Lapland Bunting around the Narrows and a Great Spotted Woodpecker in the withies. Eight Bramblings were amongst 67 Chaffinches, nine Greenfinches and a couple of Siskins, five Goldcrests, two Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap remained and thrushes were still quite conspicuous, with 48 Blackbirds, nine Fieldfares, nine Song Thrushes, six Redwings and a Mistle Thrush. A Heron and five Lapwings were seen and a Dunlin was again roosting with the Purple Sandpipers

With the easterly winds continuing, more thrushes have been on the move in recent days: Redwing(top), Song Thrush(middle) and Blackbird(bottom). Pictures (c) Ben Porter.
Amongst other waders, Redshanks have been feeding in solfach as the tides increase in height. (c) Ben Porter
