The highlights of a beautifully calm New Years eve were four Short eared Owls flushed up from the mountainside north of Cristin. Twenty two Woodcocks were also flushed in the gorse whilst 26 Snipe fed in the wetlands. A slight passage of gulls and auks was seen off the south tip: a Mediterranean Gull, fifty six Black headed Gulls, two Common Gulls, thirteen Herring Gulls, eighty seven Kittiwakes and 120 Razorbills were the totals. Five Lapwings and a Dunlin were the only waders of note.

Four Short eared Owls were flushed from the same place and headed up the mountain.
Despite numbers having reduced in recent days, there are still many Woodcocks around with four or more being flushed from the same gorse bush.
