Monday 8 August 2011

Strong north-westerly winds persisted throughout the day, and ensured that most bird action remained at sea. A pale Arctic Skua, two Great Skuas and a Balearic Shearwater were the most notable birds seen at sea during the day. Five Sandwich Terns also passed by, along with nine Fulmars, 1075 Manx Shearwaters, 120 Gannets, a Whimbrel, a Black-headed Gull, 22 Kittiwakes and three Razorbills. The juvenile Redstart was again at Nant, as was a Sand Martin and a Spotted Flycatcher; 27 Willow Warblers were scattered all over.

 Gannet
Great Skua and Balearic Shearwater (honest!)
