Strong winds from Storm Hannah started from the south today and brought in a few good birds out to sea, three Pomarine Skuas, four Arctic Skuas and a Great Northern Diver were seen throughout the day. Other birds seen on seawatches were: one Black-tailed Godwit, six Common Scoters, 112 Gannets, 6904 Manx Shearwaters and 71 Fulmars. Another good day for Whimbrel today with 40 around (two of which were trapped during a dazzling session), a high density for an island this size. Seawatching was definitefly the theme of the day, and credit to the Bangor students who put in some pretty respectable shifts, even in the testing weather!

One highlight of the day, besides the Pomarine Skuas, was an Osprey that flew over the Narrows and towards the mainland, providing a great view for Toby, a student from Bangor University who has been staying with BBFO for the week. Other Birds around include: 94 Oystercatchers, one Peregrine, one Buzzard, 31 Shags, four Cormorants, one Great Spotted Woodpecker, four Swallows, five House Martins, eight Rock Pipits, six White Wagtails, 12 Wheatears, two Whitethroats and one Great Tit.
