The day started at 6am as Sam and Stuart decided to do a 'Big Day', trying to see as many bird species as possible in 24 hours. Starting at the Narrows the first birds of note were the long-staying Bar-tailed Godwit, four Common Sandpipers, nine Redshanks and the Ringed Plover family.

After the Narrows they headed around the South End with a short seawatch providing the first Common Tern of the year as well as all the usual seabirds including Manx Shearwaters, Gannets and Puffins. On the way back to the Narrows, Stuart saw a large splash off the West Coast. A pod of nine Risso's Dolphins was seen leaping out of the water! Other birds seen there included two Swifts and a Siskin

An unexpected Collared Dove in the Withies took the day total up to 41. Upon reaching Nant the total rocketed up after flushing a Little Owl and a Peregrine appearing out of the mid-morning fog. The eclipse male Tufted Duck was still on Gareth's Pond and after getting back to the Obs at 9am the only glaring omission was Great Tit!

The sun came out in the afternoon and so the team were distracted by swimming in the sea at Cafn. The final total was 62 with Kestrel, Teal and Sanderling seen from Solfach.

Birds today: 20 Gannets, one Grey Heron, one Teal, one Tufted Duck, one Kestrel, one Sanderling, one Bar-tailed Godwit, four Common Sandpipers, nine Redshanks, two Whimbrels, 48 Curlews, two Black-headed Gulls, one Common Tern, two Collared Doves, two Swifts, one Skylark, 11 Starlings, one Chaffinch, one Siskin, one Lesser Redpoll
