Changeover day saw the departure of last week’s guests and the arrival of new ones, including volunteers Tom Williams and Bethany Wilson. Ewan also left for his summer break.

Nice message on the fridge from the outgoing guests

Out to the west, five Porpoises and two Risso’s Dolphins were spotted — the first Risso’s seen in ten days. Around three thousand Manx Shearwaters were rafting on a calm sea off the west coast too.

Two Hummingbird Hawk-moths were active in the Obs garden.

Waders included two Dunlin, two Whimbrel, 19 Curlew, three Redshank, and five Common Sandpipers

Among the gulls were three Black-headed Gulls, two Common Gulls, and approximately six hundred Herring Gulls, with five Sandwich Terns seen in Solfach.

Passerine activity was limited, with ten Wheatears and ten Willow Warblers being the only migrants recorded.
