Another change in the weather today, after a clear start to the night, the fog descended, blanketing the island. The night beforehand was dedicated to trapping and ringing Storm Petrels, a total of eight new birds were caught and five retraps, a reasonably successful night with our new amp and speakers.

The fog today made census quite difficult and hampered migration. A Buzzard was seen again today briefly, but was the only raptor of the day. On the narrows just three Curlews and a Common Sandpiper were seen, whilst further inland hirundines numbered just 23 Swallows and two House Martins. A Whitethroat at Nant this morning was hopefully a sign of some Sylvia passage to come this autumn, especially after our very poor spring for Lesser Whitethroat. Just two Chiffchaffs and 13 Willow Warblers made it into log today, ending a quiet day.
