Migration saw a small increase today, the low cloud cover this morning made for a nice change to the sweltering conditions of late, and presumably was the cause of an elevated number of migrants. A Buzzard made its way through the island today, being mobbed by the resident birds. Waders numbered, a Lapwing, 20 Curlews (the largest count of the autumn so far), two Redshanks and three Common Sandpipers. Overhead, just a single Swift was noted along with five Sand Martins.

Inland, a small number of migrants were also noted including some of the smaller passerines, a Robin was somewhat of an island scarcity following their absence for the past few months. Six Sedge Warblers were a mixture of adults and young, with the first broods beginning to fledge. Two young Whitethroats were noted today as well, presumably also raised locally. A Chiffchaff and five Willow Warblers were the only other Warblers noted today.
