The wind stayed relatively calm today and the cloudy start to the day didn't last long with sun and blue skies from mid day on wards.

There was fairly little difference in terms of birds, there were more Willow Warblers around with 19 at Nant and more at the Observatory fly-catching for most of the day. Blackcaps were still in good numbers and Chaffinches had increased with ten at Nant and a couple more at the Obs. Wheatear numbers had fallen with only five on the Narrows, so to had Meadow Pipits with less than half the number there had been in the last few days. The Common Redpoll and Siskin remained at Nant along with two Common Buzzards and a Peregrine flying high above. One new bird in was a Starling seen on the Narrows today, not as abundant here as most places.

Ringing was steady with 39 birds caught mostly including Willow Warblers, Goldfinches and Blackcaps.

After much hard work the observatory is now ready and awaiting its first guests of the year who are arriving tomorrow. It looks amazing and I hope it impresses everyone lucky enough to stay here this year.
