There was definitely a sense of more birds around today. South easterly winds with rain throughout brought in more birds including two new birds for the year.

The day started with a Cuckoo singing in the observatory garden which soon moved to nant for the rest of the day, this is the first of the year. The observatory garden was also more alive with the first Garden Warbler of the year in amongst the Blackcaps which numbered 13 around the island. Phylloscopus warblers were also more abundant with eight Chiffchaffs, 37 Willow Warblers and a Wood Warbler found at Nant, possibly being the bird from a few days ago but could also be a new bird. Tree Pipits were the most abundant they had been all year with five been seen and heard around the island including one in the plantation at Nant, other migrants included two Common Whitethroats, three Sedge Warblers, one Grasshopper Warbler, one Robin, nine White Wagtails, one Yellow Wagtail, 13 Swallows, 37 Whimbrels, two Dunlins, and one large first-summer Peregrine
