It was another overcast day before brightening up in the afternoon. It was a later start than usual after ringing Storm Petrels the previous evening. In the end three were trapped on the Narrows, though there were plenty of Manx Shearwaters to keep interest going.

Storm Petrel

We welcomed Louis to the island today, who will be volunteering with us for the month. Louis us currently a T permit ringer and is looking to get a good range of ringing experience whilst here.

It was fairly quiet with few migrating birds today. The best bird was a Redstart which may be the bird seen in the same location along the track on the 25th. It is very skulky and all that has been seen is the red tail is it disappears into the Gorse.

Birds today : three Storm Petrels, 22 Gannets, one Grey Heron, one Buzzard, two Whimbrels, 31 Curlews, one Redshanks, one Common Sandpiper, eight Turnstones, one Black-headed Gull, one Collared Dove, 26 Swallows, one Redstart, ten Willow Warblers,
