It was the final calm day before a week of forecast wet and windy weather. To make the most of it another evening of Storm Petrel mist netting was on the cards. It was slightly quieter with six trapped and three retrapped. After only a few hours sleep Stuart and Louis opened the nets in the Withies with the star birds being two juvenile Redstarts and another ringing tick for Louis - Meadow Pipit.

There were few other birds of note during the day. Two Grey Heron flew along the West Coast late in the day and then proceeded to roost on the South End. A male Kestrel was seen over the North West Fields and three Sand Martins were seen heading south.

Birds today: 41 Gannets, three Grey Herons, one Kestrel, four Dunlins, four Whimbrels, 50 Curlews, one Redshank, two Turnstones, three Black-headed Gulls, 16 Collared Doves, three Sand Martins, two Redstarts, 14 Willow Warblers
