It was another good day for birding on the Island in light south-easterlies, with the highlights being two Long-eared Owls in the garden first thing at Cristin, a Barn Owl at Nant, two Yellow-browed Warblers and a Firecrest (that was ringed) at Nant, and a rather eastern looking Lesser Whitethroat.

'VisMig' was strong again today with good overhead passage, as 754 Skylarks, 530 Meadow Pipits, 65 Alba wagtails, 266 Chaffinches, five Bramblings, nine Greenfinches, 259 Siskins, 316 Goldfinches, 182 Linnets, 13 Lesser Redpolls, 13 Reed Buntings, two Jackdaws, 25 Rooks, 24 Starlings, a Grey Heron, and two Merlins were all logged moving through the Island. Interestingly, most the finches (largely Goldfinches and Linnets) seemed to come in-off from the sea moving north later in the morning, so could have been birds that left Ireland first thing before arriving here!
A seawatch from the South End and at Observatory produced 16 Mediterranean Gulls, 267 Black-headed Gulls, 11 Common Gulls, 81 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 289 Herring Gulls, 26 Great Black-backed Gulls, 71 Kittiwakes, 2 Guillemots, and 85 Razorbills.

A few migrant Lepidoptera were also recorded today with 20 Red Admirals and two Painted Ladys recorded across the Island.
