A persistent mizzle coated the Island throughout the day as well as the south-westerlies reduced in strength. It was quiet on the ground bird-wise, so the highlight of the day at Cristin was when a small finch flocked dropped onto the garden feeders, which included a Chaffinch, five Siskins and two Lesser Redpolls. A Red-throated Diver was seen feeding off the North End near the gull colony, whilst other migrants seen today included a Grey Heron, a Sparrowhawk, five Redshanks, a Swallow, three Blackcaps, two Chiffchaffs, and two Willow Warblers.

Most of the day was spent painting the inside of the Observatory, so now the walls in the Boot room has a new lick of paint! It was also a good chance to catch up on inputting ringing data after the recent falls of Willow Warblers and Goldcrests.
In the evening, Ed went out lamping and caught two Jack Snipes and a Common Snipe!
