Today the mist eventually dissipated…

and was replaced with cloud and rain, followed by more mist. The silver lining was a spectacular and sunny evening however.

Some more migrants trickled onto the island today, with a good variety of different species. Two Sparrowhawks and three Peregrines were the best concerning raptors, however a moderate number of waders made their way into log today, 15 Whimbrels, two Curlews, one Redshank and one Common Sandpiper.

A Cuckoo was seen briefly in the morning, as were the first ten Swifts for a while. Hirundines accumulated to one Sand Martin, 90 Swallows and 17 House Martins today, and a Tree Pipit was another vis mig welcome surprise. Another day worth bashing the bushes today, a Grasshopper Warbler, eight Sedge Warblers, two Whitethroats, five Blackcaps, 12 Chiffchaffs, 14 Willow Warblers a Goldcrest and three Spotted Flycatchers were the pick of the bunch.
