High winds today coming from the west in the morning with intermittent rain showers. There was noticeably less calling and singing around Nant and Cristin, with the usual chorus of Wrens almost absent or inaudible due to the wind. A short seawatch from the South End hide produced: four (close range) Manx Shearwaters, 11 Gannets, 11 Shags, 10 Fulmars, six Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 12 Kittiwakes, 14 Guillemots, six Razorbills and three Meadow pipits in off the sea. Unfortunately, the biting cold and the eye wateringly strong winds did lead to an early retreat from seawatching! But so far this season there have not been so many Fulmars and Manx Shearwaters visible off of South End as there were today.

During high tide in the morning 133 Oystercatchers flocked to the Narrows to feed on worms in the short grass. Other birds around include: nine Purple Sandpipers, 13 Turnstones, seven Rock Pipits, five Pied Wagtails, one Stonechat, three Wheatears, six Chiffchaffs, three Willow Warblers, two Goldcrests and two Linnets

Back at Cristin, the dining room is now complete with a new coat of paint and the walls have all been smoothed out. However, there is still more to do in the rest of the house, such as scraping off old paint from the walls, removing mould and then repainting the walls.

The dining room looking as good as ever!

The pantry still has a little way to go...
In other news, Steve Stansfield has returned from Israel, where he has been attending the International Bird Observatory Conference and will be making his way over to Bardsey on Saturday. Also, Lewis Hooper (Assistant Warden), who has unfortunately been off to a delayed start is hoping to be coming over next week!
