The team, including visiting ringers headed off to the East Side today in the hope of ringing the last of the Razorbills and Shag chicks.
Razorbill Chick

Gorgeous Adult Puffin

Although it's now the tail end of the season there were still Razorbill chicks to be had, and today 14 were ringed along with one adult. We also re-visited a shag nest that previously had chicks that were too small to take darvic rings, and so each of the three chicks were duly fitted with a red ring with white writing this time around.

Also caught were six puffins using leg hooks. Chicks are deep down in the burrow and occasionally so are the adults today 4 chicks were caught along with two adults, great birds to see up close, even if they do have a vicious bite!

Birds around the island today include: one Kestrel, one whimbrel, one Curlew, one Cuckoo (also present yesterday), 3 juvenile Chiffchaffs, two Starlings and 2 juvenile Chaffinches.
