What a glorious day! There wasn't a breath of wind and the Irish sea was like a mirror.

The main highlights of the day were cetaceans, on such a still day they stand out from the incredibly calm sea. An hour or two watching produced at least six Harbour Porpoise, two Risso Dolphins and a good record of 23 Common Dolphin all moving though in a group showing their aerial acrobatics as they went south, an amazing sight for those at the observatory.

Other than this there was little out of the ordinary, a good flock of Swift went through made up of over 60 individuals, a couple of juvenile starlings were still around in the fields along with ten Curlews, two Whimbrels and a handful of Redshank in the bay.

The moth trap is starting to fill up more and more with some good species, a Double Line was only the 5th record for the island and it came with some other nice species such as Southern Wainscot, Lackey moths, Buff Tip and more as well as some Six Spot Burnetts on the wing.
