Changeover today, after a night of Manx Shearwater ringing that produced just over 100 new birds and about as many retraps, the obs staff got ready to welcome the new guests and say a big thank you and goodbye to our volunteer, Ed who has been here for almost three weeks.

The south double with its brand new sash window which was fitted on Thursday!
The south quad, hoping it can be used in hostel style this year!

The weather was sunny and calm throughout most of the day, occasionally clouding over for small amounts of time. A morning census yielded two singing Song Thrushes, as well as the usual warblers.

It was a quiet day, with a bit more seabird monitoring taking place in the late afternoon. The Ringed Plover is still sitting on eggs on the Narrows, it can't be long before we see the first chicks for many years. Lesser Redpolls were calling and singing in the garden throughout the day, although they are making noise continuously, only two were ever seen at one time.

Birds today: one Curlew, two Song Thrushes, one Sedge Warbler, one Blackcap, one Chiffchaff, one Willow Warbler and two Lesser Redpolls.
