North-easterlies accompanied a decent arrival of migrants to the Island today, with the first Cuckoo of the year, a fine male Whinchat, five Collared Doves, a Pied Flycatcher, a Redstart, a Mistle Thrush, a Grasshopper Warbler, two Sedge Warblers, and three Whitethroats all recorded. There was also an impressive increase in Blackcap numbers as 222 were logged across the Island, alongside 191 Willow Warblers and 14 Chiffchaffs

However, the most exciting news was the fact a Little Owl was sighted entering a burrow - the first record of the year and hopefully a sign of breeding again on the Island!

Other migrants seen today included 62 Wheatears, five Whimbrels, nine Sand Martins, 15 Swallows, seven House Martins, 32 Goldfinches and three Lesser Redpolls
